Why do the media always show giving birth as deadly painful? Why do they do that?

So I am a 31 year old woman living in the US. I always see on TV that the media portrays giving birth as a very very very painful thing, like deadly painful. I really don’t know why they do that for example in the movie “Knocked Up” they showed the girl screaming like hell when she was giving birth. Why do the media do that? Doesn’t the media know that there is something called epidurals and pain killers and many other types of pain killers that could make you almost feel nothing. I have 3 kids and I have birth naturally to all of them, I only got some pain killers(not sure if they were even epidurals) and to be honest I didn’t feel pain, I only just felt a bit pressure. Are they just showing those painful acts so people won’t have babies and we don’t get overpopulation or what? Thanks
