Does my phone work for my new plan?

Ok so my friend gave me this verizon phone about 6 months ago and I havnt touched it since. But now im getting Strait Talk with verizon and I want to know if this phone will work with it or what. And if it does how would it work, would I just bring it when I activate my unlimitted card or what? Thanks guys :D
