Will I really damage my hair if I dye it again tomorrow?

I have naturally light brown hair (with some highlights from the sun) and tried to dye it a bit lighter today with Loreal Excellence in 'natural dark blonde,' it has actually gone darker! I'd say it's now medium brown... Can I try again with a lighter shade tomorrow? Or will it all fall out/totally muck it up?
