Misdemeanor and custody case?

Im in the middle of a custody battle and i have a very serious question to ask. i had a misdemeanor possession of paraphernalia against me over 6 years ago and was wondering if that will have any hold against me in court i have since not used any drugs and have raised my kids in a non drug or alcoholic environment i am very adamant about giving my kids the best chance they can have against that stuff because i know what drugs do to you so do you think that it will make a difference seeing as how i have honestly changed my life and have been walking the strait n narrow since then??
