HELP.... major hair emergency!!!!?

I naturally have dark, dark, brown hair (almost black). I wanted it to be just a little bit lighter for the summer and dyed it w/ loreal feria natural medium brown. It came out RED... and looks horrible!! What's worst is that that the top is a lot lighter than the rest of my hair. What do I do? I'm going on vacation on Sun. so I don;t have a lot of time to fix it. I 've read that products like oops hair color remover work but only on hair that has been dyed too dark... can I just dye it a dark ash brown so it'll get rid of the red?
